In recent years, Plainfield Rescue Squad has begun to investigate other services
that it could provide, in addition to traditional Emergency Medical Services. This page will highlight
some of our current iniatives to provide increased services to the citizens of Plainfield.
The bike team is a new entity at PRS, making it's debute in time for the
year 2000 4th of July parade. The bike team performs mobile first aid at public events as
well as, in the future, specialized rescue functions like Search and Rescue.
Members of the bike team all must undergo a physical examination, as well as specialized
training in bike safety and operations. Although preference is given to EMT's,
any member of PRS is eligible to apply to the program.
Currently, the bike team is composed of 6 members.
The bike team has been activated at the 4th of July Parade, during the
National Night Out, and has even given bike safety classes at neighboring
schools. Based on the success of the bike team, the squad is looking
to expand the current team to approximately 10 members.
